Cooktop extractor brand video inspired by Alpine soaring as the purest form of flight.
An in-house experiment combining generative AI and traditional CGI for an integrated cooktop extractor brand video. We wanted to test out the production readiness of primarily local AI tools. Fought us at every step, with geometric and continuity of motion being the biggest hurdles.
AI-Assisted Videography & Visual Development
The videography for this project was developed using a locally hosted ComfyUI pipeline, enabling complete control over the AI generation process while maintaining a consistent visual direction throughout the film. By leveraging custom workflows and iterative generation, we produced a large number of candidate shots, allowing us to explore different compositions, lighting conditions, camera movements, and product-focused visuals with a high degree of creative flexibility.
Hero imagery and key product visuals were initially developed in Midjourney, where the overall visual language, lighting style, and material appearance were established. These hero images served as the creative benchmark for the rest of the production. The AI-generated video sequences were then color matched and graded to maintain consistency
CGI Development & Simulation
For the cooktop extractor brand film, we used PhoenixFD to create a physically based steam simulation that accurately replicated the behavior of hot vapor generated during cooking. Rather than relying on hand-animated effects, the simulation was driven by fluid dynamics, allowing the steam to naturally rise, curl, disperse, and interact with the surrounding airflow.
The final result combines physically accurate simulation with high-quality rendering to produce natural-looking steam that enhances both the realism and visual appeal of the commercial.
